Prep

  • Try to stay hydrated and avoid getting sick! If you are ill by the day of your appointment, it is best to reschedule. It is much harder for your body to heal a tattoo properly while you are sick.
  • I highly recommend exfoliating and moisturizing you skin daily the week leading up to you appointment.
  • If possible, avoid getting a cut, scrape or rash in the area you plan on getting tattooed.
  • avoid getting sunburnt 1-2 weeks prior to your appointment

The Night Before

  • Stay hydrated!
  • Avoid heavy alcohol consumption the night before your appointment
  • Get a good night’s sleep!

The Day Of

  • Shower
  • Do NOT shave the area in preparation for your session - I will take care of this before we lay the stencil.
  • ‘Do NOT, moisturize your skin the day of your skin the day of your appointment, it could make things too oily
  • pack some water and a sugary beverage to keep you going throughout the day.
  • Eat a balanced, protein-rich breakfast the morning of your appointment! This will keep you energized.
  • Avoid caffeine the morning if your appointment - caffeine can act as a blood thinner and cause more bleeding
  • Bring snacks or lunch/dinner if you’d like. We have a refrigerator and a microwave if you need. You are also more than welcome to order something from a local restaurant.
  • Wear dark, comfortable clothes to your appointment.

Aftercare

Step 1:

The first bandage will be worn for 24 hours (expect a discolored plasma to form under the bandage during this time) When removing the first bandage, I recommend doing so in the shower.  It will be an easier clean up as the plasma is going to try to escape and the water will help the Dermor Tattoo Bandage come off.

Tip: When you have a corner of the bandage up, stretch and pull it outwards before pulling up, this reduces irritation to the skin!

Step 2:

While in the shower, wash your tattoo with a liquid fragrance-free soap, using small circle motions with your fingertips.  Wash off thoroughly, make sure there is no soap left on the skin. Let the tattoo air dry or tab using a paper towel.

Step 3:

Clean around the tattoo with some alcohol, just to remove any extra oils from the skin before you apply the next bandage.  NO OINTMENT UNDER THE BANDAGE.

Step 4:

Using the extra bandage I’ve given you, apply the second bandage to your tattoo. Make sure that the bandage covers at least one inch of the skin surrounding your tattoo. In highly mobile areas of the body, I recommend adding extra room in to accommodate the movement. You may want to cut the edges to keep the dyes from peeling up.  You can always layer multiple pieces of the bandage to make sure it is covered properly.

Step 5:

To apply the bandage, peel off the backing to reveal the adhesive. In a relaxed, neutral position, apply the bandage on and around the tattoo, adhesive side down. Gently smooth the bandage onto the skin and try to push out wrinkles or bubbles -it’s ok if you can’t get them all out

Step 6:

Remove the outer layer of the plastic to reveal matte finish of the bandage.

Step 7:

Leave the second bandage on for 5-7 days.
